Why antique theaters were abandoned and most of the time destructed by early Christians? What was their primary role in a Greek world? What were the rituals carried out? Why Romans changed everything?

Western and southern costs of Turkey and a good part of the inner land are dotted with 150 known antique theaters. This number is higher than Italy or Greece might claim. Some of them are in such a perfect conditions that they are still used in their original glory while most deserve to be called ruins and a few can only be found and understood with the help of professional archaeologists. For a first time traveler most of them look same. Yet each have different scenery, many difference in details and a specific story to tell to those who want to listen.

Sengul Aydingun an Art Historian and (PhD) Archaeologist is able to tell their story with all the necessary details. Haldun Aydingun a photographer and a writer himself joined her in their trips to more than 80 of them in Anatolia alone.
